Janette Villalobos, Ph.D.

Biography

Janette Villalobos is Senior Director of Formulated Product Development at Frida, where she leads innovation in personal and baby care solutions. With more than 15 years of experience spanning formulation, product design, sustainability, and consumer insights, she has built a career advancing science-driven innovation into successful commercial products.


Before joining Frida, Janette held roles across multiple industries, including Product Design at Chemtron, where she developed high-performance disinfectants and sanitizers; Sustainability Manager at Amcor, driving material science and environmental initiatives; and a decade at Procter & Gamble, where she advanced through multiple scientist and leadership positions in sustainable materials, beauty disruptive innovation, and product design for P&G Ventures. Her work there included leading formulation programs, developing intellectual property strategies, and launching technologies that became global product successes.


In addition to her industry roles, Janette served as a Board Member of the Organic Reactions Catalysis Society (ORCS) from 2014–2020, helping foster dialogue and knowledge-sharing in catalysis research and applications.


She earned her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Emory University and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Michigan, focusing on catalysis and cross-coupling reactions.


Passionate about blending cutting-edge science with consumer needs, Janette continues to champion innovation that balances product performance with sustainability and long-term impact.
